COURSE OBJECTIVES To develop further the principles of the SAQ SystemTM of training.
To examine, understand and appreciate the differnce between speed
and agility training
To examine and develop the concept of agility training and its
relevance to conditioning for sport
To formally investigate and develop the theory and practice of
speed development over 5 to 10m
To demonstrate and teach further exercises and drills which will
promote and enhance speed, quickness and agility.
To assess the ability of each participant to understand the
principles of SAQ and deliver a SAQ training session.
|
|
SPEED The course looks at the various componets of speed: Ability to initiate movement
Quickness of the mark over 3 to 5m
Acceleration over 20m
Maximum effective speed
Agility speed.
|
|
AGILITY During the course, we shall emphasie the connection between mechanics and agiliy speed. SAQ Mechanics in open space
SAQ Mechanics used to teach change of direction techniques
SAQ Drills to emphasise ability to change pace
Further emphasises is placed on the neuromuscular system - the key difference between
SAQ and traditional training
By developing and honing the neurological firing patterns, the brain
and body learn to work together much more efficiently.
|
QUICKNESS Light resistance drills will be coached to develop quickness and acceleration.
Heavy resistance exercises are coached
Light assistance exercises are coached
With ongoing SAQ drills, the neuromuscular system is reprogrammed
and restrictive mental blocks and thresholds are removed.
|
|
RESULTS An instinctively quicker player or athlete. One who reacts faster, moves more explosively and executes the game skills quicker and with more precision.
|
|
SCHOOL TEACHERS & PE TEACHERS The SAQ method of training is an excellent system for physical education in both primary and post primary levels as it incorporates the basic motor skills which are seen as fundamental to sporting activities. The multiplicity of co-ordination drills and fast footwork exercises will enhance the development of all students and improve basic skill learning patterns. SAQ resistance assists the natural strength progression in the young. SAQ offers a unique alternative to the normal PE programme.
